Shammara Henderson

Shammara Henderson is a native New Mexican, growing up in Albuquerque. She graduated from Valley High School in 2000. She went to American University in Washington, D.C. where she graduated in 2004 with Political Science and Philosophy degrees.

While in college, Shammara worked in the Office of Senator Jeff Bingaman, the D.C. Public Defender Office and the NAACP, which ignited a commitment to justice and public service. After college, Shammara came home, graduating from UNM School of Law in 2007. After law school she clerked for Justice Charles W. Daniels of the New Mexico Supreme Court and thereafter was an Assistant District Attorney for the Second Judicial District. Currently, Shammara is an attorney in the Office of Governor Bill Richardson.

Shammara credits her parents who always upheld the ideals of education and service in the home, and partner of eight years, Michael Clay, for the unrelenting support he has given her.
