Commissioner Roxanne Lara, ENM '07

Commissioner Lara was elected to the Eddy County Commission in 2008, after contested races at the primary and general levels. On the county commission, Roxanne works to improve quality of life through economic development and expansion of alternative energy resources.  Roxanne is a member of the Eddy County-Lea County Energy Alliance and sits on the National Board of Energy Communities Alliance, as well as the executive board of the Carlsbad Department of Development.  As a community member, Roxanne serves as a Co-President for AAUW-Carlsbad and continues to work toward achieving greater gender equality both locally and nationally as a NM delegate to Vision 2020. Roxanne works with the Mayor of Carlsbad as the Co-Chair of his Long-Range Planning Committee and as a member of his Nuclear Task Force.  Roxanne also serves on the board for the Southeast New Mexico Community Action Corporation, a five-county community based organization that includes HeadStart Programs, and is the Chairman of the county DWI Council.
