Linda Trujillo

Santa Fe Public Schools Board of Education Member, District 4

Linda Trujillo was elected to the Santa Fe School Board in 2011, and was a member of the Emerge Class of 2010.  She is a parent of five adult children who were educated in public schools. She is educated in early childhood, owned her own childcare business, taught Head Start, developed programs for at-risk students, implemented an America Reads AmeriCorps program and a BOOTS Camp (Bridging Options and Opportunities for non-traditional Students) program. Linda is an attorney and was most recently the Director of the Boards and Commissions Division of the State of New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department.

Linda understands the value of education. As a young parent with only a high school diploma, she struggled to make ends meet. She expanded her childcare
business by taking some college classes. Linda was the first person in her family to graduate from college and later receive her Juris Doctor from Seattle University School of Law.

Linda is very concerned about the achievement of Santa Fe’s students and wants to be part of the solution. Poor academic achievement and low graduation rates are just symptoms of a system that needs reform. Tough problems require innovative and practical solutions.
