Jessica Jaramillo
Jessica Jaramillo is a native New Mexican originally from Questa, a small village in northern New Mexico. She is an alumnus of UNM, and currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Public Administration with an emphasis in health policy.
She has a passion for public policy issues relating to health care, particularly accessibility to medical care in New Mexico. This passion stems from her childhood. On October 30, 1999, her fourteen-year-old twin brother and best friend, Brian, passed away unexpectedly at her rural home in Questa, after an outpatient surgery. The nearest ambulance was thirty miles away and help came too late.
The access to health care services in rural New Mexico is minimal at best, and the lack of care drastically affects many people. Jessica is committed to making health care more accessible for New Mexican communities.
