Georgene Louis

As a native New Mexican and member of the Pueblo of Acoma, Georgene Louis has chosen to keep her roots in her home state. She graduated from the University of New Mexico with B.A. in English-Philosophy in 2000 and a J.D. in 2004.

Georgene was appointed State Gaming Representative by Governor Bill Richardson in 2007. As the State Gaming Representative, her primary duty is to monitor compliance of the 2001 and 2007 Amended Tribal-State Class III Gaming Compacts entered into by 14 Indian tribes and the State of New Mexico. Prior to her appointment, Georgene practiced Indian law at Chestnut Law Offices for three years.

Georgene resides in Albuquerque with her daughter, Jonisha. Georgene's hobbies include running and reading.
