Beatrice Brickhouse began her public service career as an officer in the United States Army. After graduating from law school in 1993, Judge Brickhouse began serving the citizens of New Mexico as an Assistant District Attorney, prosecuting felonies, including crimes against women and children. In 1996, she transitioned to private practice, representing indigent citizens in civil rights and criminal matters. Judge Brickhouse moved to Bernalillo County in 1999, and after taking time to start a family, served as a DWI hearing officer. In 2002 she began working as a trial attorney for the City of Albuquerque, representing police officers, firefighters, and other City of Albuquerque employees.

On January 2, 2009, Judge Brickhouse was appointed to the Second Judicial District Court, Civil Division, in Bernalillo County.  She was re-elected in 2010.
