Alicia Manzano
My story began in Albuquerque’s South Valley. I am the youngest of four children, born into a tight-knit Latino family. I attended public school in Albuquerque, eventually graduating from West Mesa High School. After high school, I embarked on my collegiate experience at New Mexico State University. I graduated with a B.A. in Journalism & Mass Communication and a B.A. in Spanish. After graduating from NMSU, I returned to Albuquerque where I decided to begin my career. After a short stint with the federal government, I began working with a non-profit organization and simultaneously began graduate school at the University of New Mexico. I received my Master’s Degree in Public Administration, with an emphasis in public management. I am currently the Outreach Director at New Mexico Voices for Children. On a personal level, I’ve been married to my wonderful husband Daniel for five years, and we live on the Westside with our two dogs.
